There’s a new mascot joining Fairy’s iconic 1960s favourite. We’re celebrating his arrival with five top tips to tackle tough messes

He’s been a familiar sight in our homes since the 1960s, though you may not know his name. Bizzie is the iconic Fairy mascot who’s kept generations of Brits company as they whizz through the washing up.

Now Bizzie has got company of his own – a long-lost twin brother, a new mascot for Fairy and someone to help tackle tough-to-clean dishes in your dishwasher.

Accidentally separated at birth, these twins had drastically different upbringings. But despite growing up in extremely different environments, both twins developed a hatred for tough messes and a love for sparkling dishes.

Now finally reunited, the twins have developed a deep bond over their love of cleaning. Tough Baby has arrived just in time to help you get tough on mess this summer with these five tips.

1. Clean as you go

Load the dishwasher and wash your cutlery and implements as you cook. Make sure that you start every meal with a clean sink free of clutter. With an empty dishwasher and sink at the start of your meal prep, cleaning as you go suddenly gets a lot easier.

2. Use Fairy Platinum in your dishwasher

After a large meal, use Fairy Platinum tablets to tackle those tough-to-clean dishes. Using Fairy Platinum makes the clean-up that much easier as it removes even baked-on foods the first time, leaving you more time to spend with the family.

3. Plan, plan, plan

Family meals can be challenging for lots of reasons besides the tough-to-clean dishes: deciding what to cook, catering for fussy eaters, doing food prep after a long day at work… The list goes on.

Make things easier by planning your meals for the week before heading to the supermarket. You’ll be less tempted to make those impulse buys if you follow a list, and the family will be happier to eat food they helped choose.

4. Clean the dishwasher trap regularly

Under the bottom rack of the dishwasher, you will find the filter or trap. This is responsible for catching dirt, food and other particles that are left behind after cleaning.

Sometimes the tray comes out fully so it can be rinsed in the sink; sometimes a towel is needed to remove the gunk build-up. Fairy Platinum can remove tough-to-clean food off your dishes the first time but keeping the trap clean will help the process.

5. Have a place for everything

When finishing the post-dinner clean-up, be sure to put everything back in its rightful place. If you don’t have a place for everything, designate one. Don’t leave clean dishes sitting out on counters or on the drying rack.

Not only will you feel more organized but putting everything back in its place will signal that clean-up time is finally finished and give the task a feeling of completion and finality.
