Whether it’s your daughter’s wedding or a big birthday celebration, our beauty countdown will ensure you look and feel like your best self on the big day.

You’ve got a big event in the diary and want to look your best. The good news is, youthful, glowing skin can be yours – all you need to do is start your beauty regime early.

Here, we give you the ultimate countdown that will ensure you shine and feel more confident than ever…

A month before

1. Brush up

A super-special party dress deserves super-silky legs. Step forward body brushing, which encourages lymphatic drainage, resulting in smooth and toned skin. Using a body brush, work in long, sweeping strokes, brushing skin from the ankles up. Repeat a few times a week and you’ll see real results in time for your big day.

2. Happy feet

Our feet are often the most abused body part, and this means they need plenty of love and attention in advance. So start buffing your feet and applying an intensely hydrating foot lotion now.

3. Practise makes perfect

Doing a trial make-up run now will help you see whether you need any new additions to your cosmetic bag. For a classic look that will give you instant confidence, aim for glowing skin and defined eyebrows, lashes and lips.

A week before

1. Good to glow

Wary of using fake tan? Try a gradual tanning lotion that helps you build up your desired shade slowly for that just-right glow.

2. Shine on

This is widely considered to be the best time to get your hair coloured. The reason? Hair colour is often far better after one shampoo.

3. Dazzle them

A dazzling smile is always in vogue. If you want your teeth to be brighter and whiter for your big day, try the Oral B 3D White Glamorous Shine Toothpaste, which removes up to 100% of surface stains in just three days (yes, you read that correctly!).

The day before

1. Get on point

Treat yourself to a mani and pedi to give the final touch to your look. If you’ve chosen a dress in a dark colour, why not go bright with your nails? Alternatively, a blush or nude nail is a classic way to complement your look without clashing. Worried about chips and cracks? Consider gel polish, which lasts for up to two weeks.

2. Wash your hair

If you’re opting for an elaborate ’do, wash your hair the day before. The reason? Squeaky-clean hair loses its shape more quickly and can slip out of hair grips more easily. But don’t worry, your hair will still look gorgeously shiny if you wash with Pantene Smooth & Sleek, which helps to keep unwanted frizz under control.

3. Get your beauty ZZZs

As well as ensuring you have enough energy for the big day, a good night’s sleep will give your skin cells optimum time to repair and rejuvenate themselves – so be sure to head to bed early the night before.

An hour before

1. Drink to better skin

Make sure your drink lots of water on the day to keep your skin hydrated - it will help to plump the skin, fill in fine lines and wrinkles, and enliven a dull complexion. Even better, have a cup of hot water and lemon, will help detoxify your skin, too.

2. Anti-age your eyes

Want to brighten your eye area? Placing an ice-cold pad there for a couple of minutes will instantly awaken tired-looking eyes. Finish with a few dots of Olay Illuminating Eye Cream, which contains light-reflecting particles to lift tired eyes.

3. Ace your base

Use a primer on your skin to prepare it for make-up and ensure it lasts all day (and night!). Now all you need is that glass of bubbly!
