Which eye cream is right for you?

Which eye cream is right for you?

If the eyes are the windows to the soul, for many of us the surrounding skin is more like the curtains! Here’s how the right product can let the light back in.

Olay scientists have found that eyes can have a ‘biological age’ of up to 22 years older than the rest of the face. But now there’s a solution to help your eyes look ageless.

Laughter lines are beautiful and a sign of a happy life. But 80% of women report having a specific eye concern, be it dark circles, puffiness, fine line and wrinkles or all three.

While there are eye creams, serums and gels that can help lift and brighten this delicate skin area, it’s important to find the right one to suit your needs.

Read on to find out what product is right for you so you can get back to working on those laughter lines…

Sagging skin and wrinkles

The skin around the eyes is delicate, so it can be one of the first areas to start to show signs of ageing.

Crows feet are the first wrinkles to appear on the face caused by lack of moisture in the eye area and lower elasticity in this area.

The best thing for you is to look for a light serum, which won’t weigh the skin down, but will set to work moisturising, firming and smoothing the eye area.

Olay’s new Firming Eye Serum, for example, smoothes fine lines and wrinkles, and it hydrates the skin. Its amino-peptide complex plumps up sagging and helps renew the eye area, making it look firmer.

Tired-looking eyes with dark circles

You can get dark circles for many reasons: from lack of sleep to allergies.

Make-up can help to conceal them, but as it fades throughout the day, your dark circles will begin to show again.

Instead, look for a product that not only immediately reduces the look of dark circles, but also works over time to regenerate the skin’s surface to reveal a smoother, more even texture. Olay’s Illuminating Eye Cream, for example, instantly brightens eyes with light-reflecting particles, giving them a luminous glow.

The dual-swirl gel and cream formula then also hydrates the skin, nourishing the eye area and helping to diminish colouration and even skin tone for a radiant, healthy look.

All of the above

If you suffer from dark circles, wrinkles and puffiness around the eye, then you might think you need more than one product, but instead you just need a super hard-working one.

Olay’s new Ultimate Eye Cream is a 3-in1, offering a colour-correcting formula to reduce dark circles, plus it’s supercharged with peptides and vitamins to help smooth fine lines and wrinkles, and renew the skin over time, making it look younger and smoother.

How to apply eye cream

Applying the cream can be just as important as what cream you use, as any dragging or pulling of the skin can make wrinkles and sagging worse.

Dot your ring finger with a small amount of cream or serum. Dab small dots about an inch away from each eye, tracing your eye socket bones. This may feel a bit too far away from your eye, but the cream or serum will travel through the skin by about an inch in the next couple of hours, so there’s no need to risk damaging that area by applying it directly.

Still using your ring finger, start at the inner corner of your eye and blur the dots together with light dabs, following the contour of your eye socket.

Continue until it’s completely absorbed and then leave for 15 minutes before applying make-up or going to bed.

Puffy Eyes

My biggest problem are puffy eyes, I don't seem to have many wrinkles around them but the puffiness is my bugbear. I have tried various eye serums but the bags and swelling around the bottom still exists. I try to get sleep but being 63 it's not always successful. I have tried what the top models do and that is to wrap an ice cube inside a cloth and just dab each eye, quickly, underneath. Plus teabags, potato slices and cucumber slices...all to no avail. Help, I'm desperate.
