Look great, feel confident and party long into the night this Christmas with these style tips.

The seasonal quandary about what to wear to all those festive parties is as inevitable as twinkling lights and Christmas trees.

But instead of worrying about how to hide bits of our bodies that have seen better days, let’s make a promise this year to look and feel confident at every Christmas party by switching attention to the good bits – those areas you are proud of and want to show off.

From family gatherings to romantic dinner dates with your partner, by using a little know-how and picking an outfit that works with your body shape, you can spend less time worrying about how you look, and more time enjoying yourself.

Best for… a big bust

The wrap dress is a classic for a reason – find one that plays with this season’s fabrics and prints, but keeps that deep V-neck and waist-defining power of the wrap. If you don’t want too much cleavage on show, simply slip a delicate vest top underneath.

Wide-leg trousers are also clever for balancing out your proportions and are versatile enough that they’ll be handy for just about every festive event. Be daring and try wide-leg velvet trousers, or a pair in silk with a bold pattern.

Best for... great legs

If you have amazing legs, try a simple, long-sleeved shift or column dress. You can go shorter on the length as the long sleeves will balance the exposed skin, while the loose-fitting shape is ideal if all those party canapés go straight to your middle.

Look for one in silk or with a sprinkling of sequins for an evening party, and team with chic black pointed court shoes.

If you have long hair, try an elegant up-do to reveal your neck, as this will look alluring against a higher neckline. If your hair is a bit on the thin side, click here for up-dos that are perfect for adding a little va-va voom.

Best for... tall and slim

Party season dressing is a breeze when you’re tall with a long torso. Try wearing one of this year’s takeover trends, the ‘cold shoulder’ dress.

Cut to hang off the shoulder, this romantic look will frame your neck and shoulders, drawing the eyes up. Ensure the length falls just above the knee to keep your body in proportion.

Enhance the soft and feminine feel of this outfit by adding Lenor Fabric Softener to the wash. Try it in Shea Butter or Silk Tree Blossom and you’ll smell divine too.

Best for... slim waists

If you have a smaller top half than bottom, then your waist is the asset to flaunt. Look for outfits that cinch you in at the middle and flare out, gently skimming your hips.

Opt for dresses that cleverly mix fabrics, textures and colours between the top and bottom halves. With a block colour on top and a patterned fuller skirt on the bottom, the eye will naturally be drawn to the centre of your torso, while the flared skirt will flatter your amazing curves.

Best for... small and petite

When you’re short on height, eveningwear doesn’t need to be difficult. Match your petite frame to a mini dress and keep the hemline short to make the most of those legs.

Bold and daring prints look great on a smaller frame, so go wild and try the brightest, most exciting prints you can find.

And unlike many silhouettes, high necklines look great on you, so try a high collar, preferably in contrasting fabric or colour, that will draw attention to your face.
