Why exfoliation is the key to radiant skin

What is exfoliation?

Your skin is constantly shedding dead cells from its surface, renewing itself with fresh, healthy cells from within. Approximately 35,000-40,000 cells are discarded naturally every minute, but sometimes that’s just not enough to reveal a glow, so it’s smart to give nature a helping hand by manually sloughing away the superfluous cells.

Why is exfoliation so important?

If you have an excess of dead cells sitting on the surface of the skin, it can block pores and lead to blackheads, pimples or acne. Skin will appear dull and lifeless.

This also means moisturiser, serums and other treatment products will be less effective, as they can’t be easily absorbed into the active cells below.

How to exfoliate your face

Facial scrubs are a great way of sloughing away dead skin cells. However, the skin on your face is delicate, so you should opt for a gentle scrub with beads rather than scratchy seeds.

How to exfoliate your body

Lower necklines, short sleeves and bare legs all mean more flesh is on show, and the combination of freezing temperatures and central heating will have taken their toll on skin over recent months.

Exfoliating is part of my washing routines once a week in the winter as skin seams to dry out quicker under all those layers of clothes . And once a mounth inn the summer unless needed more. I'm lucky to have a bath and shower so I soak inn bath for 20 mins then circle motions with a loath and body exfoliate ing scrub and then shower off . WOW what a diffrence and a clean fresh feeling and glow
